A Toast to my new blog!

Let's see if I can type this before the NyQuil kicks in. : )

Having just recovered from the 24 hr. bug (well 90% recovered) I am feeling on fire today! I am not sure where my zest for life comes from. Maybe I am finally getting into the groove of being a new ag teacher. Which no disrespect to other teachers, but being an ag teacher is hard work!

So back to my zest for life. I started Karate lesson today! Really not for the karate but to make new friends. Being the new kid on the block is kinda lonely. Actually being the new kid on the block coming in at semester, is even lonelier. I really do have a lot of friends but just not in my little teacher community where I teach. So I was telling a good friend of mine, Allen, about my karate class. She of course likes to make fun of the situation. "So I start karate today." "Oh with your teacher friends." "Well they're not my friends yet but hopefully soon!" Then it just gets worse from there. : )

So karate wasn't really what I was expecting. I am seriously renting Karate Kid this weekend. First I will set up a membership to the movie place and then I will rent that movie. I need to study up before the next class. There is sooo much to learn! The counting.....in Japanese, the noisy exhales at the end, the bowing, the foot and hand positions. Oh and the rules. If sensii ever ask if you have questions, you never respond with no. Say many questions or... actually ask a question. Makes sense to me, right? Many times I just wanted to crack up laughing. A few laughs did sneak past my lips. But luckily I wasn't kicked out and I haven't had to do 20 push-ups as punishment yet. What a relief. I am pumped for next week.

School should be fun tomorrow. I have visitors coming. Two state officers are stopping by to see my 8th graders! Pumped! Not only are these my first visitors but I don't have to plan a lesson for that hour. Go me! I had to do some serious cleaning of my office and make my room look extra special before I left tonight. Gotta impress. haha

So NyQuil may be kicking in.....

Here are some fun quotes from the mouths of high schoolers.....

Student: "Ms. Bogart, you're cooler than chicken nuggets."
Me: "I have never heard that one before."
Student: "Yep, I made it up"

Student: "My dad use to work at a meat packaging plant."
Me: "Oh really..."
Student: "He was also religious."
Me: "Oh well yeah..."
Student: "So he found himself blessing the animals before he killed them."
Me: "Aww how sweet of him." wowzers

Me: "You might want to capture this down for your test."
Student1: "What? A test!"
Student 2: "This is Ag class! Ag classes don't have tests!"
Yeah right.....
